Adam Endacott | Seven of Nine “Star Trek: Voyager”
“I’ve chosen the character of Seven Of Nine from Star Trek: Voyager because everyone has their Star Trek, and Voyager was mine. My dad would always be watching any version of the franchise that was on at the time, and has been a mega fan before I was even born. But Voyager is the series that I have the most memories and fondness of watching with him after school. It was a great bonding opportunity for me with my dad, and the main cause of my nerdiness and love for all things sci-fi today.
I’m always drawn to characters who are trying to regain their humanity, or simply want to become human, and Seven is one of the best examples of this. Jeri Ryan nailed the stoic emotionless Borg character with a human trapped within, and every time she smiled or made a witty comeback it was so wholesome to see. Plus I can’t go without saying that she rocked those catsuits.
Recently my dad has had a tough time, going through a lot of medical issues that have effected the whole family in different ways. With everything changing so quickly for us, Star Trek has continued to be a constant between me and my dad, and with Seven Of Nine returning in the new Picard series, this has allowed my dad and I to continue bonding every week over a new episode, and forget about the struggles of the real world, even if it’s just for a little bit.”
