“The women of Star Trek are rich, deep and diverse...I love them all! But the one who connected with me on the most personal level was Kate Mulgrew 's iconic Captain Kathryn Janeway.
I'm a bit ashamed to confess that I didn't grow up watching Star Trek. In fact, I watched it in its entirety only once as part of an intense 2 years marathon that took place between 2018 and 2020. The franchise came into my life as an adult woman, mom of two young kids. The more I got to know Janeway, the more I realised she was the role model I needed, and especially now in these daring times.
Even though Janeway and the crew under her personal responsibility are stuck in an impossible situation, she never defiles from duty. Janeway is competent, intelligent, she is a science geek, has leadership and can make difficult calls. She has a sense of humor and is affectionate to the people she loves.
I admit, I wasn't always on board with a couple of her command decisions. Janeway made mistakes, but in the end she always gave her absolute best, no matter how difficult the circonstances. «Just do your best». It's the best advice I ever had as an adult.
....also, and a pure fangirl note: Janeway is the queen of sass, doesn't take anyone's **** , is a coffee addict and is just plain bad***! I love you Janeway and I love you Kate Mulgrew!”
