Leen Isabel | Joann Owosekun “Star Trek: Discovery”

“When I see Joann Owosekun on screen, I think of loyalty. As we came to know more about Owo in Season 3, it was clear right off the bat how devoted she was to Detmer's well being. Oyin Oladejo was so delicate in portraying Owo's emotions and her acting skills deserve great praise! I just loved those quick glances Owo and Detmer shared -- silent but spoke volumes through a smirk or a hard glance. Or their synchronized responses to orders reflected their complete trust of each other. Then when an episode flipped upside down into the Mirror Universe, Owosekun was still just as steadfast and faithful to her Emperor. And as we know, by the end of the season, Owo shone bright when she was willing to give the ultimate sacrifice. When she uttered, "I Love You," it said so much about her dedication to her friends/crew, her ship & to Starfleet. She gave her whole heart. It's safe to say that Owo has become one of my all-time favorite Star Trek characters and I can't wait to see what's more to come for her in the future.”

"Loyalty always wins if the focus of that loyalty is strong and worthy," - Mirror Phillipa Georgiou of Mirror Owosekun.
