Vincent Sammy | Leeta “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”

“DS9 is my favourite Star Trek series of all time and one of its greatest abilities as a show was to take smaller characters and build them up over time. Leeta was one such character. From her humble beginnings as a Dabo girl, she was pivotal in helping Rom establish a labour union, the 'Guild of Restaurant and Casino Employees', to fight Quark's oppressive rules. She later joined the resistance cell on DS9 to fight the Dominion. When she married Rom she stood her ground against a Ferrengi pre-nup as it was against everything she believed in. As a Bajorn she was part of a race that was oppressed by the Cardassians, but she stood strong and helped her people survive against the new threat of the Dominion.”
